A downloadable game for Windows

You're stuck in a run-down industrial complex filled with zombies. The help arrives in 20 minutes, will you fire all the rescue flares in time so they don't miss you? Will you keep the others alive?

Grid Protocol is a solo-developed, third-person shooter set in an industrial complex overrun by zombies. Scavenge and loot the surrounding blocks, gear up and protect the other survivors until help arrives.

It's a run-based game where your task is to locate and fire rescue flares while keeping yourself and your group alive. Use the NPCs to upgrade and craft new equipment, manage your inventory and use your ammo wisely.

Let me know what would you like to see in the full game and what can be improved upon!

Install instructions

This is the first public alpha build for Grid Protocol. It contains the core gameplay loop, but the content and level design is still work-in-progress. Meta out-of-run progression is also coming later.

You can hit Escape to see the controls. For now it only works with keyboard & mouse and the only language is English.

Unpack the ZIP archive and run the Grid Protocol.exe to play.

(In some cases Windows will warn you that the app is from an unknown source. Just press "More Info" and "Run Anyway".)

I’ve been tracking this project and the latest updates have made a huge difference. The game is tough, but with the timer increased to 20 minutes and the rebalanced difficulty, it’s finally possible to beat it! The core loop of scavenging and protecting survivors feels much more rewarding now that you actually have breathing room to use the crafting system.

I'm really looking forward to the next updates and I'm definitely waiting for the final release.

A pleasant game but difficult, the creation system looks good. Need more time to pass the level or fewer zombies at the start. Once I reached the rifle and got some ammo, it was enjoyable. Maybe it's worth adding a few levels with different starting equipment

Thanks for checking it out! I'm working on a patch that'll make it a bit easier (and increase the time limit to 20 minutes) while also adding some QoL and fixes. Will make a post here when the new version is ready!
